PHILOSOPHY

A) The technical choice is to use exclusively analogic A or A/B class circuits: in amplifier stages, digital circuits are quite useful only when you want to deeply manipulate some parameters (time delay, special filters); in power stages, instead, it is useful to resort to D class when you need very high power and low thermal dissipation at a cheap cost, paying little attention to quality...
B) The circuit has a minimalistic design, indeed you just have the essential controls, the only useful ones to get the best obtainable quality. There are no remote controls which would require a digital circuit, even if only at a control level; after all, a remote control would not be of great use in such essential machines.
The volume control (which is always a signal attenuator) is made without circuits nor digital controls, but rather by means of passive components, available in various options, which characterise sound in different ways.
C) The amplifier circuits in both Pre-Amplifier and RIAA Eq are by Millennia Media (http://www.mil-media.com/), a very well-known American professional products brand which produces the microphone pre-amplifiers used in the most important recordings worldwide; that means many of the records you listen to have been recorded with the same circuits.
D) The weight of the machines, remarkable even as for the Pre-Amplifier and the RIAA Eq, is an accurate choice, designed to bring down spurious mechanical vibrations induced by the acoustic pressure generated by loudspeakers, which have a somewhat negative effect, especially on capacitors.
E) The machines are handcrafted; this is the only background that allows to dedicate a special care and the indispensable time to customizations, unlike industrial production which generates identical items.
F) Each machine can be, as far as possible, upgraded to its “higher” model, with no need to replace it. Different options are quoted and listed in the price list.
G) Various versions of the basic model, such as balanced Pre, Eq and Power Amplifier, have already been made, and battery-powered and integrated versions (Pre+Eq, Pre+Power), as well as 5.1 AV and 7.1 AV versions are being studied.
H) Possible options are specified in the leaflet of the different machines (e.g., a different Pre-amplifier volume control). Also inner wirings can be made with different kinds of cables.
I) Each model is being produced in 30 or 50 pieces only, thereafter modifications are applied; the machines are therefore numbered according to their maximum production (e.g., 5/30, 6/50 etc., as for silk-screen printing) and signed.
L) The machines are customizable as far as colours are concerned, within the possibility of the aluminium anodization colour chart. It is also possible to have only some parts of the case in a different colour (e.g., control knobs, front and/or back panels, etc.).
Front panel and control knobs are also available in some kinds of solid wood.
M) You can listen to the machines at home for a week without any commitment to buy. For further information, contact us via email.
N) These machines are created in Sonus’ lab (http://www.sonus.it), a company which has been working in the audio professional field since 1986 and has cooperated and cooperates nowadays with the most important Italian music institutions, such as Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
O) The after-sales service is directly and exclusively carried out in our lab in Rome. No external labs, as far as certified they might be, are involved.
